It is a myth that drinking tea will dehydrate you. Studies have shown that high doses of caffeine can dehydrate but the levels found even in a strong cup of tea are not enough to negate the amount of fluid absorbed from drinking it.

Dr. Carrie Ruxton, a Public Health nutritionist, and colleagues from Kings College London have looked at the health effects of tea consumption. It was found that flavonoids are the key ingredient in tea that promotes health.
Dr. Ruxton said ” Drinking tea is actually better for you than drinking water. Water is essentially replacing fluid. Tea replaces fluids and contains antioxidants so it’s got two things going for it. ”
